Dear followers of the newsgroup, I have been recently faced with a problem: Who were the parents of Constance d' Alagon, wife of Guillem d' Anglesola? Some including https://gw.geneanet.org/fcicogna?lang=en&pz=francesco+maria&nz=cicogna+mozzoni&ocz=1&p=costanza&n=de+alagon say she was daughter of Artal IV de Alagon and Teresa Perez de Aragon, others say she was daughter of Blasco d'Alagon and Juliana Ximenez d'Entenza and thus Artal IV's sister and https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constan%C3%A7a_d%27Alag%C3%B3n_i_Romeu and https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balasc_d%27Alag%C3%B3 say she was daughter of an earlier Blasco d'Alagon, grandfather of the previously mentioned Blasco, and Margelina de Baucis. Who's right, in this, after all?

My two cents worth. My data from internet sources (Roglo db) had her
as dau of Artal IV, but marriage dates of ca1270 for Constanza and
ca1279 for Artal IV, suggest that they were siblings. The earlier
Blasco would have been born 1170/1180's.

I neglected to mention an example of the second idea, here is, one, https://gw.geneanet.org/frebault?lang=fr&pz=henri&nz=frebault&ocz=0&p=constanza&n=de+alagon.

Constanza cannot have been the daughter of the later Blasco and Jussiana d'Entença - his testament was dated 1272, and his only daughter was named Eva, whereas Constanza had inherited Culla from her father Blasco by 23 March 1244 when her husband Guillem d'Anglesola held it, see p. 401 no. 23 here:

A full transcription of no. 1 in the above, a translation of the the undated "Testamento de Blasco de Alagón" naming his daughter Constanza, can be found here (ascribed to 1239 on the grounds that Blasco evidently died in the second half of that year):

Apologies for not reading further - you can also find Constanza's own charter dated 12 January 1246 that settles the question conclusively - she stated that she was the daughter of Blasco and Margelina, and that Guillem d'Anglesola was her husband ("ego domina Costança, filia que fui de domino Blascho de alagone et de domina Margelina, cum voluntate et concessione domini Guillermi de Inglarola, mariti mei").

I was wrong before about the family of the younger Blasco, whose wife was Jussiana d'Entença - Eva was not his "only" daughter, as he also had daughters named Teresa and Mallada. Eva was apparently named after the younger Blasco's mother, who was wife of the elder Blasco's son Artal.
